Hello! I'm so glad you're here.
I’m a journalist and editor based in San Francisco. As a senior writer at The Chronicle of Philanthropy, I write news and magazine feature stories about charitable giving, the nonprofit sector, and solutions to complex social issues. I help readers understand what philanthropic gifts accomplish on a wide array of causes, from wildfire mitigation and environmental justice to homelessness and early childhood education. I previously led the Chronicle’s coverage of fundraising and wrote a weekly email newsletter on how everything from economic trends, public policy, technology, and our personal values influence how nonprofits attract donations.
I’ve also worked as an editor at Stanford Social Innovation Review and a staff reporter at The Dallas Morning News. My work has appeared in publications including the Associated Press, The Chronicle of Higher Education, Civil Eats, Current, Modern Farmer, EdibleDC, and Michigan Today.

In my spare time I love to cook, garden, and photograph nature. See some of my favorite shots here.
